Unfortunately, and with a heavy heart we have sad news about this iconic actress

Valerie Perrine, the former Las Vegas showgirl turned acclaimed actress, has died at 82 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Her close friend Stacey Souther confirmed the news, writing, “It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away,” and described her as courageous and full of life.

Before Hollywood, Perrine performed in Las Vegas, including the famous Lido de Paris show at the Stardust Hotel. Her stage work built the confidence and presence that later defined her acting career. A chance meeting with an agent led to a screen test, launching her into film.

Her breakthrough came in *Lenny* (1974), where she starred alongside Dustin Hoffman. Her role as Honey Harlow earned critical acclaim, including an Academy Award nomination, a BAFTA win, and recognition at Cannes. The performance proved her depth and established her as a serious actress.

She later gained worldwide fame playing Eve Teschmacher in *Superman*, alongside Gene Hackman and Christopher Reeve. The role made her a pop culture favorite, known for her charm and screen presence, even as she navigated being labeled a “sex symbol.”

In later years, she faced illness with honesty and humor. Reflecting on her condition, she said, “The doctors don’t know what’s going on with me… They can’t figure it out.” When asked what she believed, she replied simply: “Karma.” Her legacy remains one of resilience, talent, and a life lived boldly.
