Chaz Bono just said ”I do.”
But it’s the bride who has everyone talking…
Amid all the Oscars buzz, a glamorous Hollywood wedding has also stolen the spotlight – and not just because a celebrity child said ‘I do.’
When Chaz Bono, the son of music legend Cher, married longtime partner Shara Blue Mathes on March 8, 2026, the event looked like something straight out of a movie. Held at the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the ceremony featured a “Hollywood Glam Formal” theme — and stunning details from start to finish.
But when photos from the big day hit social media on March 15, fans quickly became fixated on one unexpected detail.
For Chaz, 57, the wedding marked the culmination of a relationship that began more than 40 years ago. He and Shara first met as teenagers at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute. Life took them in different directions for years, but they eventually reconnected and made their relationship official in 2017.SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – OCTOBER 03: (L-R) Actor Chaz Bono, executive producer Cher and Shara Blue Mathes attend the Beyond Fest Los Angeles Premiere of “Little Bites” at the Aero Theatre on October 03, 2024 in Santa Monica, California. Reflecting on their journey, Chaz shared:
“I first met Shara more than 40 years ago when we were just teenagers. I think it’s safe to say that not many grooms ultimately end up marrying the very first girl they ever kissed so many years later.”
He added:
“She makes me feel complete knowing she will always be there beside me as partner, my best friend, and the love of my life. No matter what life brings us, we will always be safer and stronger together … and we are home.”A new chapter begins
Despite the online chatter, the couple appeared focused on what truly matters. After knowing each other for more than four decades, they’ve finally started their life together as husband and wife.
