For months, Daniel had complained about his wife’s mischievous cat, Whiskers. It scratched the sofa, knocked decorations off shelves, and disturbed his sleep every night. His wife adored the animal, however, and refused to let him get rid of it. Eventually, Daniel decided he had suffered enough. One morning, while his wife was away, he placed Whiskers inside his car and drove several miles away. Confident that the troublesome animal would never return, he released it beside an unfamiliar country road and happily began driving home.
Unfortunately, after countless turns and confusing intersections, Daniel realized he was completely lost. His phone barely worked, and the unfamiliar roads offered no clues. Frustrated, he finally called his wife. She answered immediately and asked whether he had seen Whiskers. Daniel swallowed nervously before asking, “Is the cat home?” She confirmed that it was. Then he made an extraordinary request: “Please put the cat on the phone. I need directions!”
Daniel explained that he was lost and described the village his wife had mentioned. Fortunately, the driver knew the area and offered to show him the correct highway. Daniel thanked him enthusiastically and climbed back into his car. For the first time that afternoon, he felt hopeful. However, something unexpected awaited him at home.
