‘The Young and the Restless’ Star Remembered at 87

For generations of television viewers, daytime dramas have created unforgettable memories, introducing audiences to characters who felt like part of the family. Over the years, countless performers helped shape that tradition, bringing emotion, heart, and authenticity to every scene. Some of those stars remained in front of the camera throughout their careers, while others expanded their talents behind the scenes, leaving an even greater impact on the entertainment industry.

The talented performer built an impressive résumé that reached far beyond a single role. Soap opera audiences came to know her through appearances on several beloved daytime series, while primetime television fans also recognized her from popular classics such as Bewitched, Get Smart, Wonder Woman, Mannix, and The Bob Newhart Show. Her creativity wasn’t limited to acting, either. Later in her career, she successfully transitioned into writing and producing, contributing to television projects that showcased her storytelling abilities.

The actress being remembered is Ellen Weston, who passed away at the age of 87 on May 28 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to her friend and manager, Susan Zachary. Born on April 19, 1939, in New York City, Weston became best known for portraying Suzanne Thurston on The Young and the Restless from 1979 to 1981, following memorable roles on Guiding Light and Another World. She also worked as a respected writer and producer, including contributions to And the Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story, and later returned to Guiding Light as a writer. Weston is survived by her son, Jon, and leaves behind a remarkable legacy of talent, creativity, and dedication that will continue to be remembered by television fans for years to come.
