Trump, Republicans Could Make Dems Pay Dearly Over Govt. Shutdown

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, widely believed to be vying to run for his party’s presidential nomination in 2028, made more inflammatory and false statements Tuesday evening on a late-night show about Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, hours before another armed attack on an ICE facility.

In a sit-down with host Stephen Colbert, whose show has been canceled and will be off the air in a few months, Newsom falsely claimed that ICE agents were randomly kidnapping and “disappearing” people in his state and around the country, rather than simply doing their jobs and apprehending migrants who are in the country illegally and have a criminal history.

“That’s happening in the United States of America. Masked men jumping out of unmarked cars. People disappearing. No due process. No oversight. Zero accountability,” Newsom claimed. “People ask, ‘Is it authoritarianism? You’re being hyperbolic.’ Bullshit we’re being hyperbolic.”

Newsom then reverted to the race card, suggesting that the Trump administration was only targeting “black and brown communities.”

“And so I — I’m deeply proud that I had the privilege of signing the nation’s first bill to address the issue of masking, also to require you have simple identification, to your point. I mean if some guy jumped out of an unmarked car and a van with a mask on tried to grab me — I mean by definition you’re going to push back. And so this — these — these are not just authoritarian tendencies, these are authoritarian actions by an authoritarian government,” he said.

What the governor failed to note was that ICE agents are protecting their identities after several left-wing organizations and some Democratic lawmakers have doxxed them, putting them and their families at risk. Also, they are excuting duly issued removal orders that have been handed down by immigration judges.

Newsom’s gaslighting came just hours before another ICE detention facility, this one in Dallas, Texas.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. as ICE officers were transferring detainees. The shooter died from a self-inflicted wound.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said there were “multiple fatalities.” Dallas police sources told Fox News that three people were shot, including two who were killed. No law enforcement officers were injured.

“There was a shooting this morning at the Dallas ICE Detention Facility,” Noem wrote on X. “Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families,” she added.

Authorities said the gunman opened fire as the sally port was opened for a detainee transfer, attempting to force entry into the facility. It remains unclear whether he is among the three people reported shot, Fox News.

“The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families,” Vice President JD Vance wrote on X.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, confirmed Wednesday morning that he is aware of the shooting and said his team is monitoring the situation.

“My team and I are closely monitoring the situation at the ICE Detention Facility in Dallas. We are praying for the swift recovery of those injured, and we are deeply grateful to the brave first responders who rushed to the scene,” Cruz wrote.

Newsom sparked another controversy on Saturday after his team posted a cryptic message directed at Noem. The post read, “Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome, America” – in response to several state-level anti-ICE laws he signed that aren’t likely to hold up in federal court.
