This morning, I saw a pinkish lump on my wall and called the landlord right away

This morning, I was startled to find a pinkish, oozing mass emerging from a crack in my kitchen wall. The sight was both disturbing and revolting. I froze in place, unsure of what I was even looking at. The substance looked unnatural—something between organic and artificial.

Because I rent the apartment, I immediately called my landlord. To his credit, he arrived within thirty minutes. However, his reaction was unsettling. He took one quick glance at the mass, declared it “just old insulating foam,” and wiped a bit away with a tissue. Then, with gloves on and barely another word, he left in a hurry.

His behavior didn’t sit right with me. The calm dismissal and sudden departure raised red flags. Driven by growing unease, I decided to investigate further. I took a close-up photo of the strange substance and sent it to a friend of mine who works as a biologist.

Later that day, my friend called me back. His tone was serious. He said the growth resembled a fungal colony, possibly laced with mycelium or even parasitic insects. He explained that such infestations can thrive for years in damp, poorly ventilated environments—especially behind walls.

Concerned about potential health risks, particularly to the lungs, I took immediate precautions and left the apartment. Since then, I’ve tried to reach my landlord several times, but he hasn’t responded to any of my calls or messages.

Now I’m left with more questions than answers. Was it really just foam, or something more dangerous? Why was he so quick to dismiss it? And what might still be hidden inside that wall? The uncertainty—and the thought of what could have been festering there for years—is deeply unsettling.
