The Purpose of Small Hallway Sinks In Room.-Did you know?

Those tiny sinks found in the hallways of old homes may look completely out of place today, but they were once a practical solution when houses had only one bathroom. In the early 1900s, indoor plumbing was limited, and a hallway sink allowed residents and guests to wash their hands without walking through bedrooms or waiting for the bathroom.

These compact sinks were designed for quick hand and face washing rather than bathing, helping keep dirt and germs away from the dining area and rest of the home.
What seems like an awkward plumbing decision today was actually a clever way for older homes to make everyday life more convenient.
