Erika Kirk breaks silence on Turning Point USA’s alternate halftime show following Bad Bunny’s performance

An alternative Super Bowl halftime show organized by Turning Point USA drew attention alongside the official 2026 NFL performance. While Bad Bunny headlined the main halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, marking history as the first male solo Latin artist to do so, the performance sparked criticism from some conservative figures. In response, Turning Point USA staged its own “All-American Halftime Show,” positioning it as a cultural counterpoint.

The alternative show featured a lineup of country and rock artists, including Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. It was streamed online rather than broadcast during the Super Bowl, aiming to attract viewers who were dissatisfied with the NFL’s official entertainment choice. The event was promoted as celebrating patriotism, faith, and traditional American values.

Erika Kirk, the new CEO of Turning Point USA and widow of the late right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk, publicly praised the alternative halftime show. She shared a video montage honoring her husband, calling the event “so incredible” and saying Charlie would have loved it. Her post framed the show as a continuation of his vision and beliefs.

The montage included clips from Charlie Kirk’s life, such as speeches and personal moments, accompanied by his voice. Erika’s message expressed gratitude to viewers, staff, and performers who supported the event. She also emphasized themes of faith and national pride, dedicating the show to her late husband’s memory.

Charlie Kirk was killed in September 2025 during an event organized by Turning Point USA at Utah Valley University. A 22-year-old suspect has since been charged and appeared in a pre-trial hearing. The tragedy continues to shape the organization’s messaging and public identity.
