Gravedigger Handed Me A Storage Key Revealing My Mother’s Fake Funeral

I stood beside my mother’s freshly covered grave believing I had just said goodbye forever. As the last mourners drifted away, the funeral director, Earl, quietly approached and slipped a small brass key into my hand. It was labeled Unit 16 at a local storage facility. Looking around to make sure no one was listening, he whispered that my mother had paid him months earlier to bury an empty casket instead of her body. Before I could demand an explanation, my phone vibrated. The message displayed my mother’s name, even though I had identified her body six days earlier and arranged every detail of the funeral myself. The text contained only one sentence: Go home alone. Trust no one. Then open Unit 16. My heart pounded as disbelief battled reason, but something deep inside me knew I had to follow her instructions.

Instead of returning home, I drove directly to the storage facility. Inside Unit 16 I found survival supplies, my mother’s navy handbag, and a legal file box. Attached to the bag was a handwritten note warning that people had lied and ordering me to take only the red folder. Just then, footsteps stopped outside the metal door. A stranger demanded I come out, insisting my mother was dead because she had refused to cooperate with her employer, Richard Hale. Remembering the note, I grabbed the red folder and escaped through a hidden opening cut into the fence behind the unit. As I reached my car, another message arrived from my mother’s phone directing me to find Daniel Brooks at the County Recorder’s Office.
