I was eight months pregnant and completely exhausted when I arrived at the courthouse to finalize my divorce from my wealthy husband. Marcus Vale was a powerful technology executive who spent our six years of marriage isolating me from my loved ones and controlling my finances. I walked into the cold room alone because my lawyer was delayed by a sudden scheduling trick arranged by his legal team. I carried a folder of medical bills and ultrasound photos while desperately hoping to simply sign the paperwork and escape his emotional cruelty. My husband stood at the opposing table wearing a tailored suit and acting as though our divorce was merely a boring business meeting. He was accompanied by his former assistant Elara Quinn who was now openly parading around the room as his mistress. They continuously mocked my desperate financial situation and callously insulted my unborn child while I stood there completely defenseless. Without any warning his mistress stepped forward and cruelly struck my face while my husband simply smiled at my physical pain. The courtroom erupted into whispers as I clutched my stomach and desperately searched the room for someone to intervene. When I finally looked toward the bench I was absolutely shocked to realize that the presiding authority was my own estranged brother Samuel Rowan. Marcus had intentionally kept me away from my family for four years but my brother was now staring down at me with immense protective concern. Samuel immediately ordered the bailiff to lock the heavy wooden doors and sternly demanded accountability for the violent attack. My brother completely ignored the pathetic excuses from my husband and took swift legal action to ensure my absolute safety. He instantly issued an emergency protective order that barred Marcus from contacting me while granting me exclusive temporary use of our marital home. He froze my husbands financial assets and ordered law enforcement to place his cruel mistress in handcuffs for her outrageous courtroom behavior. After years of suffering in silence I finally shed tears of pure relief knowing my brother was there to protect me and my baby.
