A month before my stroke, my body began to warn me. These were the first symptoms.

You never think it will happen to you.
But a month before my stroke, my body started sending signals—subtle, confusing, easy to dismiss as stress, fatigue, or “just getting older.”

I ignored them.
I almost didn’t get a second chance.

Now, I share my story—not to scare you, but to help you recognize the quiet warnings that so many of us miss. Because stroke doesn’t always strike without warning. Sometimes, it whispers first.

🚨 The Early Signs I Missed (Weeks Before My Stroke)
1. Sudden, Unexplained Fatigue
I’d collapse on the couch after work, utterly drained—not just tired, but bone-deep exhausted. I blamed long hours. But this was different: no amount of sleep helped.

💡 Looking back: Fatigue can signal reduced blood flow to the brain—a red flag for TIA (“mini-stroke”) or carotid artery issues.

2. Brief “Brain Fog” or ConfusionTwice, I stared at my grocery list and couldn’t remember why I was there. Once, I forgot my daughter’s name for 10 seconds. I laughed it off as “mom brain.”

💡 Truth: Transient confusion or memory lapses can be signs of impaired cerebral circulation.

3. Mild, One-Sided Headaches
Not migraines—just a dull, persistent ache behind my left eye that came and went. I took ibuprofen and moved on.

💡 Warning: New, unusual headaches—especially if one-sided—can indicate vascular changes.
