Zelenskyy’s outfit choice to meet the King sparks controversy but there’s a reason behind it

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met King Charles III on March 2, 2025, at Sandringham to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the King’s support, highlighting his visits to Ukrainian soldiers trained in the UK.

However, his choice of attire—a casual outfit rather than a suit—sparked online criticism. Some social media users mocked him for not dressing formally for the royal meeting, despite Zelenskyy’s previous explanations that he wears such attire due to the war. He clarified that he would wear a suit once the conflict ends.

The meeting occurred shortly after a European summit on Ukraine’s situation, where Zelenskyy received a warm welcome from King Charles.
