US suspends all immigration applications from 19 countries

The White House led by Donald Trump has suspended all immigration applications from 19 countries and canceled citizenship ceremonies across the US due to concerns about national security and public safety.

According to American media, the ban, which took effect on Tuesday, applies to people from countries that were already subject to a partial travel ban in June, imposing further restrictions on immigration.

This could affect more than 1.5 million people who had pending asylum applications and more than 50,000 who received asylum grants under the Biden administration, The New York Times reports.
