On his website, Menner describes how the snipers, though invisible due to their expertise, are always present in the photos, aiming at the camera and thus at the viewer. Menner collaborated with snipers from the German, Lithuanian, and Latvian armies to create the series. While it’s impressive to witness the skill of both the snipers and Menner, one might question the idea of standing in front of a highly trained sniper for the sake of art.
