Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group, two of the largest owners of ABC affiliate stations, announced they will preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
following comments made by the host about the recent death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Kimmel had inaccurately claimed on air that the suspect involved was a supporter of the MAGA movement.
Nexstar explained the decision as part of a commitment to maintaining respectful public discourse, especially amid heightened national tensions. Sinclair similarly confirmed it would replace Kimmel’s show with news programming across its ABC affiliates. This means that a significant portion of ABC stations will not air the show despite Disney reinstating Kimmel.
