Melania Trump “constantly worried” as Barron begins sophomore year

Melania Trump’s Focus on Barron as Trumps Prepare for UK Visit

Donald and Melania Trump are scheduled to arrive in the United Kingdom on Wednesday for their second state visit as President and First Lady. Their son, Barron, will remain in Washington, D.C., where he has started his sophomore year at NYU’s Stern Business School and, per recent reports, is attending classes on the university’s Washington campus. A People magazine source claims the First Lady’s attention is fixed on her son’s well-being as he navigates college life in the public eye.

A Childhood Lived Under a Spotlight

Barron Trump spent his formative years at Trump Tower in Manhattan. Throughout, Melania made it a priority to shield him from the media glare and outside scrutiny. That instinct only intensified after Donald Trump’s first term began, when she took on an even more protective role—an approach she has reportedly continued.

College on Different Terms

Last fall, Barron began his freshman year at Stern. Melania later suggested that the typical campus experience isn’t really possible for her son, given who he is and the attention that follows him.

“I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college — it’s very different than any other kid,”

she told Fox, adding that her son is

“very strong and he knows that he’s in a different position than other children.”

While specifics about his day-to-day life at school are scarce, reports have suggested he’s made friends through gaming, and rumors—unconfirmed—have hinted at a girlfriend. Over the summer, coverage focused less on social life and more on business interests. In mid-September, the New York Post reported that Barron had moved back into the White House and would continue his NYU studies via the university’s D.C. campus.

Housing Choices and a Watchful Parent

Melania opted against a dorm for Barron’s freshman year, choosing instead to have him stay at Trump Tower. A source described as “political” told People that the First Lady continues to keep close tabs on him.

“Melania watches Barron constantly in an effort to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him, as this is a constant worry with her,”

the source said.

“She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”

“Always Busy,” but Family First

Even as she invests time and energy in her son, Melania reportedly has other projects in motion. She is said to be producing a documentary with Amazon Prime Video slated for release later in 2025 and divided her summer among New York, New Jersey, and Washington.

“Melania is quiet and behind the scenes but always busy with something she is pursuing herself,”

the source added.

A Mother’s Priority

By all accounts, Melania’s approach blends discretion with vigilance. For Barron, that has meant alternatives to traditional college living and a support system designed to minimize the pressures that come with being a high-profile student. For Melania, it reflects a familiar pattern—keeping her son’s world as steady as possible while managing her own commitments.
