I Offered My SIL My Son’s Old Clothes and Toys for Her Newborn, but She Demanded I Gave Her Expensive Stroller We Just Bought

When I offered my sister-in-law Jenny my son’s outgrown baby clothes, she unexpectedly demanded our new stroller instead, sparking a lesson in boundaries at a local cafe.

I’m Sarah, a 32-year-old mom with a lively 2-year-old son. Our house is filled with baby items my son has outgrown. I thought it would be nice to offer them to Jenny, who recently had a baby girl. At a family gathering, I told Jenny, “I have a bunch of my son’s old clothes and toys if you want them.” Jenny was thrilled and grateful.

However, she later asked for our new stroller. “The one you guys just bought is perfect. Can we have that instead?” she said. I was stunned and explained, “We saved up for that stroller and it’s still very new. We need it.”

Days later, Jenny showed up at my house, determined to take the stroller. “You guys can afford another one,” she insisted. I was livid but kept my cool and told her to leave.

To teach her a lesson, I invited Jenny to lunch and asked to have her beloved designer handbag, mimicking her audacity. She was shocked, and I said, “Do you see where I’m coming from now?” Jenny finally understood and never demanded anything from us again.

This incident taught me the importance of setting boundaries and standing up for oneself to maintain healthy and respectful relationships.
