Heart surgeon warns people should remove this one thing from their life after turning 40

Dr. Jeremy London, a heart surgeon, is back with some more tips on living healthy and improving the quality of our lives. This time, he reminds people over 40 what they should get rid of, and honestly, it’s something that everyone, no matter their age, should keep themselves away from.

In one of his newest TikTok videos he films along with his sons, one of his sons approaches and asks Dr. London, “Dad, what things would you avoid after the age of 40?”

Dr. London then explains, “The top two on the list go for any age… the first one would be alcohol stop drinking alcohol“If you really want to set the stage for yourself long term, limit or remove alcohol, it’s toxic to every cell in the body.

“I realise this can be hard because alcohol is everywhere. It is a personal choice but just be thoughtful.”The Cleveland Clinic warns that alcohol does more harm than many people assume. Beyond adding “empty” calories that lead to weight gain, long-term drinking increases the risk of serious conditions like heart disease, liver cirrhosis, certain cancers, and even brain damage.

Research backs this up. A major study published in The Lancet found that the amount of alcohol with the lowest health risk is none at all, suggesting even moderate drinking has measurable downsides. An occasional drink probably won’t cause major harm, but most experts agree that cutting back in midlife, or avoiding alcohol altogether, is the safest choice for long-term health.
