This is a filling breakfast bake that can be prepared the night before. It starts with layers of hash browns, diced ham, and cheese, all baked together in a rich, savory egg mixture.

Ingredients

Frozen shredded hash browns 6 cups
Monterey Jack cheese, grated 2 cups
Diced ham 2 cups
Chopped green onions 1/2 cup
Large eggs, beaten 8
Evaporated milk Two 12-oz cans
Garlic salt 1/2 teaspoon
Ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon
How to Make Farmer’s-Style Casserole

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
When you’re ready to cook, heat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: Assemble the Layers
Spread 6 cups of frozen shredded hash browns into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with 2 cups grated Monterey Jack cheese, 2 cups diced ham, and 1/2 cup chopped green onions.Step 3: Mix the Custard
Whisk together the 8 eggs, both cans of evaporated milk, 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Pour this evenly over the layered ingredients.Step 4: Bake
Cover and refrigerate overnight if you want to prep ahead.

If cooking immediately: Bake uncovered for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the center is firm.
If baking after chilling overnight: Bake uncovered for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until fully set.
