Boost knee cartilage with this simple but powerful drink

Cartilage is a tough yet flexible tissue that cushions your bones and joints. It absorbs shocks, reduces friction, and helps your body move smoothly. Without healthy cartilage, movement becomes painful and limited.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, cartilage damage can occur suddenly from injury or gradually over time, often leading to osteoarthritis. In the knees, one of the most common injuries is a meniscus tear, which happens when the cartilage between the bones becomes damaged.

Knee pain is more than discomfort—it can interfere with daily life. Climbing stairs, standing up, or gardening may become difficult. For older adults, especially those over 65, joint problems are common. Risk factors include age, excess weight, and poor nutrition.

While knee pain is widespread, certain foods may help protect and even support cartilage health. Incorporating anti-inflammatory nutrients into your diet can ease discomfort and lower the risk of further injury.

A simple drink made with turmeric and ginger is often recommended for joint support. Both ingredients are known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may benefit cartilage and reduce pain.

To prepare this drink, boil one cup of water. Add ½ teaspoon of ground turmeric (or a fresh slice) and ½ teaspoon of grated ginger (or ground). Simmer for 10 minutes, then strain if using fresh ingredients. Add honey or lemon for flavor, and sip warm. One cup daily, morning or evening, is suggested.

Beyond diet, lifestyle plays an important role in maintaining healthy knees. Staying active, stretching, eating joint-friendly foods like omega-3-rich fish and leafy greens, staying hydrated, and resting well all contribute to joint protection.
