ABC Anchor Admits Truth As Trump’s DC Crackdown Yields Big Results

President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize Washington, D.C., following his declaration of a “crime emergency,” has sparked both controversy and reflection. While some support the move as a step toward restoring safety, others view it as an overreach of federal power. The issue has drawn new attention to the city’s ongoing struggles with crime — a topic often overshadowed by politics.

ABC News anchor Kyra Phillips shared a personal story on-air, revealing that she was attacked just two blocks from her D.C. studio within the past two years.

Despite reports from the Metropolitan Police Department showing that violent crime has decreased since 2023, Phillips noted that serious incidents still occur near the ABC bureau, including two recent shootings, one of them fatal. Her remarks highlight a growing concern: statistics may suggest progress, but for many residents and workers in the capital, the fear and reality of urban violence remain close to home.
