Tim Conway & Harvey Korman Go Undercover — and Immediately Lose It — in a Classic Carol Burnett Show Sketch
Few comedy duos in television history could implode into laughter as spectacularly as Harvey Korman and Tim Conway. One of their most unforgettable moments comes from a sketch in The Carol Burnett Show in which the pair play two police officers going undercover to catch a mugger. Their disguises alone are enough to send the audience into hysterics — and from there, the chaos only escalates.
The Disguises: Harvey the Gentleman… Tim the “Lady”The audience instantly erupts. Tim emerges furious-faced, wearing a blonde wig, heavy makeup, and a dress. He approaches Harvey, violently flipping his hair and greeting him with a sultry, deadpan “Hi,” which sends both comedians (and the crowd) into uncontrollable laughter.
Tim repeatedly asks Harvey, “Do I look OK?”
Harvey, without missing a beat, replies:
“You look better than my wife.”
Tim blinks:
“I didn’t know you were married.”
Pure comedy gold.
The “First Date” Setup Falls Apart ImmediatelyThe officers sit on a bench, posing as a couple to lure out their suspect. Tim keeps flipping his wig, each time pushing Harvey closer to breaking entirely.
When Harvey asks why Tim is squirming so much, Tim leans in and confesses:
“This girdle is killing me.”
Harvey deadpans, “No one said you had to wear a girdle!”
Tim, utterly earnest:
“What do muggers do?”
Harvey explains, “They take the man’s money, then focus on the woman.”
Tim pauses… then sighs dramatically:
“Well, you got the easy part. All you gotta do is watch your money.”
