I have a daughter, 16, from my first marriage. Her late dad left her $50k, which I’ve been managing for her until she turns 18. I also have a younger daughter, 9, with my current husband. That evening, I spoke with my husband, and we made a promise: we would repay every cent we had used, even if it meant taking on extra jobs or cutting back on luxuries. Since then, our family has been slowly healing. My eldest has started to open up again, though I know it will take time to rebuild her trust completely.
