My young daughter Ava passed away suddenly from a severe allergic reaction after an entirely normal morning. I was originally supposed to drop her off at daycare but an unexpected work meeting forced my husband Mark to handle the morning routine. A few hours later her teacher Miss Greenwood called me in a panic to say Ava had been rushed to the hospital. Mark and I hurried there immediately but the medical team could not save her. In the days following her funeral Mark took over all the arrangements and answered all questions which I mistakenly thought was his way of supporting me through our tragic loss. Five days after we held the funeral Miss Greenwood contacted me about something highly unusual she found on the daycare security cameras. She sent me the video and I watched Mark walk Ava toward the building alongside a woman I immediately recognized as his coworker Lauren. The security footage showed Lauren affectionately touching my husband before handing Ava a bottled drink. Seeing them together instantly explained months of my husband exhibiting strange behavior hiding his phone and working late hours. I contacted the daycare teacher again and she confirmed that Ava appeared completely comfortable with Lauren proving this was not their first time meeting. When I confronted Mark later that evening he finally admitted he had been maintaining a secret relationship with his coworker for six months. He then confessed that he had picked Lauren up that morning before taking Ava to daycare. Lauren had purchased a strawberry banana smoothie for my daughter without knowing about her severe dairy allergy. Mark never bothered to inform his coworker about our child having this serious medical condition. I finally understood that my husband was entirely distracted by his secret relationship and handed our daughter a dairy drink without ever checking the ingredients to protect her safety.
