Biden Aide Confirms $4 Million Bonus Deal Linked to 2024 Win, Sparks New Allegations

A newly released video from the House Oversight Committee has sparked controversy after longtime Biden adviser Mike Donilon admitted under oath that he was promised a $4 million bonus if President Joe Biden won reelection in 2024. The video, published by Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY), shows Donilon hesitating before confirming that his bonus depended on Biden’s victory, a revelation raising questions about potential conflicts of interest and the ethical conduct of senior White House advisers. Republicans argue that such incentives may have motivated Biden’s staff to downplay concerns about his health leading up to the election, framing it as part of the broader “autopen scandal” investigation into Biden’s capacity to perform his duties.

Donilon, considered one of Biden’s closest confidants, played a central role in shaping his political image and campaign strategy. Internal communications obtained by investigators show that Donilon remained heavily involved in the administration’s messaging even as Biden’s public appearances decreased in 2023 and 2024. Whistleblowers allege that senior staffers limited Biden’s public exposure and used autopen devices to sign official documents to mask his declining health. Comer called Donilon’s testimony a “smoking gun,” claiming it proves that key aides had financial motives to conceal the president’s condition. Democrats, however, have pushed back, arguing that performance-based bonuses are standard in both political parties and accusing Republicans of politicizing routine compensation structures.
