The British actor, who captivated audiences worldwide as the brilliant yet tormented Dr. Gregory House, recently confessed that he feels like a “fraud” for portraying a doctor instead of becoming one in real life — a path his late father had once dreamed for him.Born in June 1959, Laurie grew up under the influence of an extraordinary father, Dr. William “Ran” Laurie — a Cambridge-educated physician, Olympic gold medalist, and war hero. Following in his father’s footsteps, Hugh attended the same college at Cambridge, where he joined the rowing team and planned to pursue medicine after competing in the Olympics.
