How Melania reacted to King Charles’ ‘cheeky’ joke

King Charles III’s lighter, personable approach to monarchy was evident during Donald and Melania Trump’s recent UK state visit.

Arriving September 16, the Trumps were greeted by Prince William and Princess Kate before being formally received at Windsor Castle by King Charles and Queen Camilla. While Trump joined the king for official events, Melania accompanied Camilla and Kate.

A playful moment drew attention when Charles joked about the wind blowing away Melania’s hat, sparking rare laughter from the former First Lady. Her gray Dior suit and purple hat, paired with Trump’s matching tie, made a striking fashion statement. The visit featured pageantry at Windsor, a wreath-laying, and a formal banquet, blending diplomacy, symbolism, and personality under the king’s modernizing touch.
