Barbara Eden, the iconic star of I Dream of Jeannie, celebrated her 92nd birthday on August 23, still adored for her timeless beauty and charm. Her portrayal of the lovable genie made her a household name, but behind her Hollywood smile is a story marked by deep personal tragedy—most painfully, the loss of her only son, Matthew Ansara, to a heroin overdose in 2001.

Born during the Great Depression, Eden rose from modest beginnings to stardom. She launched her career in the 1950s through film and television, eventually starring opposite Elvis Presley in Flaming Star. Her breakthrough came in 1965 with I Dream of Jeannie, a show that cemented her legacy and introduced her to fans around the world.
