Trump signed a new executive order aimed at healthcare pricing

President Donald Trump’s latest executive order aims to enhance price transparency in healthcare. The directive requires healthcare providers to disclose the “actual prices” of services and items, rather than estimates, building on a 2019 order he signed.

A report from PatientRightsAdvocate.org revealed that only 21.1% of hospitals fully complied with the 2019 transparency mandate. Trump’s new order emphasizes that hospitals and health plans have not been held accountable for missing or incomplete pricing data. He also criticized the Biden Administration for failing to enforce this requirement.

Trump highlighted that the new order strengthens the original policy, allowing patients to negotiate prices, which he believes is key to lowering healthcare costs. While opposition from hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry is expected, Trump maintains the policy is designed to benefit patients and reduce costs.
